The Secretary of Tourism in Tamaulipas, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, played a pivotal role in the inaugural session of the “National Conference of Tourism Secretaries and Tourism Officials 2023,” led by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués. Emphasizing collaborative efforts between different government levels, the conference aimed to boost tourism diversification nationwide, ensuring benefits extend to communities across the country.

Key discussions included updates on the “Mayan Train” project, presented by Gen. Brig. I. D. E. M. Oscar David Lozano Águila, aiming for a multi-sector impact in the southeast to promote regional progress and well-being.

A significant highlight was the Coordination Agreement on verification presented by Cesar Garizurieta Vega, Director of Standardization and Verification at the Ministry of Tourism. This agreement empowers state authorities to verify tourism service providers’ adherence to quality standards, ensuring a high-quality experience for visitors.

Addressing security concerns, Alejandro Zúñiga Bernal, Director of Ángeles Verdes Tourist Services, discussed federal land transportation issues and the purification of the municipal tourist transportation registry. The recently inked Ángeles Verdes agreement with Tamaulipas reinforces visitor attention in the region.

Furthermore, Alejandro Aguilera Gómez, Head of the Information and Monitoring Unit, presented an analysis of the Regulatory Framework for Tourism 2019-2024, emphasizing the importance of Pueblos Mágicos in diversifying tourism and boosting community economies.

During the conference, Hernández Rodríguez engaged in a productive exchange with Guerrero’s Tourism Secretary, Santos Ramírez Cuevas. The focus was on strategizing the revitalization of tourism in Guerrero post-Hurricane Otis.

Tamaulipas’ active involvement in the conference underscores its proactive approach in seeking collaborative solutions for tourism development, reinforcing the event’s significance as a normative and binding tool for national-level tourism policy planning and execution.

Under the guidance of Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, the Tamaulipas Tourism Secretariat is committed to actions aligning with the State Development Plan proposed by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya. These initiatives aim to position tourism as a genuine economic engine for Tamaulipas.
