Cancún is set to host the 5th annual Vacation Rental Expo 2023, the premier international business forum for the vacation rental industry in Mexico and Latin America. The event is scheduled for November 9 and 10 at the Cancún Center, marking the fifth time this key industry gathering will take place in the city. The vacation rental sector boasts a significant presence in the region, with nearly 58,000 rooms available, although official figures from the State Tourism Secretariat (Sedetur) account for around 41,000 rooms that attract and serve tourists from around the world.

Over the course of two days, the event will bring together property managers, property owners, investors, real estate professionals, and vacation rental experts to explore and discuss the dynamics of short-term rentals in Mexico and Latin America.

Quintana Roo, the state where Cancún is located, is actively working on regulations to address the booming growth of the vacation rental industry, particularly in destinations like Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, where the sector has seen remarkable expansion.

Manuel Lozano Alvarez, the director of EXPORV, emphasized their collaboration with authorities to integrate the industry into the regulatory framework, aligning it with other sectors. The supply within this sector is flexible and varies depending on platforms and registration data, with estimates ranging from 40,000 to 58,000 rooms under this category, subject to changes as hosts enter or exit the market based on various factors.

The upcoming ExpoRV event in Cancún will convene vacation rental professionals from across Mexico and Latin America to share insights and trends within the industry. The 5th edition will feature more than 55 exhibitors and expects over 500 attendees from over 10 countries. The event serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, information exchange, and networking among professionals in the vacation rental sector.

During the Vacation Rental Expo, the APAR assembly meeting will take place, bringing together professionals in the national vacation rental and short-term rental industry. This association aims to professionalize the sector and actively participate in industry regulations.

The ExpoRV event is divided into a showroom where product and service providers will showcase the latest industry offerings. In addition, it features a series of conferences and workshops led by both national and international experts who will delve into market trends and explore strategies for the professionalization of vacation rental services in Mexico.

This year’s Vacation Rental Expo will feature renowned speakers, including international giants like Airbnb, Booking, Expedia-Group, VRBO, Google Travel, and Marriot Homes & Villas, offering attendees invaluable insights and perspectives on the evolving vacation rental industry. The event promises to be a hub for knowledge exchange, industry networking, and professional development in this dynamic sector.
