Saymi Pineda Velasco, Secretary of Tourism, unveiled today a series of strategies aimed at promoting tourism in Oaxaca and fostering the growth of the sector in the state. As part of these initiatives, an advertising campaign titled “July, Month of the Guelaguetza 2023” has been launched, which will be extensively showcased in key locations throughout the country, known for their high footfall.

The Guelaguetza is an iconic and cherished celebration in Oaxaca that pays homage to the rich traditions and cultural diversity of the region. In a bid to attract visitors from across the nation and abroad, the Secretary of Tourism has decided to bring the promotion of this event to strategic sites such as the Metrobús routes in Mexico City, the Cancun International Airport, and the Angelópolis Shopping Center in Puebla.

During the announcement, Saymi Pineda expressed the commitment to diversify the tourism promotion of Oaxaca and establish the Guelaguetza as a national and international benchmark. “Our goal is for more people to discover the vibrant culture and traditions of our state, while enjoying the warm hospitality and breathtaking natural beauty that Oaxaca has to offer,” she emphasized.

The advertising campaign will encompass media advertisements, billboards, as well as extensive outreach on social media and various digital channels. These efforts are expected to significantly boost the number of tourists visiting Oaxaca during the Guelaguetza, which takes place throughout the month of July.

In addition to promotion, the Secretary of Tourism highlighted the implementation of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors during their stay in Oaxaca. These measures include the training of tourism personnel, enhancements to infrastructure and services, and the promotion of stringent health protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.

“We are collaborating closely with tourism service providers and local authorities to provide visitors with a safe and unforgettable experience,” stated Saymi Pineda. “Our aim is for those who attend Guelaguetza 2023 to leave with not only cherished memories but also the confidence that Oaxaca is a high-quality and exceptional tourist destination.”

The extensive promotion of Guelaguetza 2023 in strategic locations with high footfall across the country represents a significant step towards boosting tourism in Oaxaca and strengthening the local economy. This initiative is anticipated to have a positive impact on the tourism sector and contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the region.
