Carlos Slim Domit, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Carso, recently spoke at the Tianguis Turístico 2023 event in Mexico and asked ChatGPT for its recommendation on whether people should visit Mexico. In response, ChatGPT suggested that Mexico is a beautiful country with a lot to offer, from vibrant cities to historic towns, mountains to beach towns, and a vibrant culture with delicious food and friendly people. Slim Domit praised the response and its positive impact on tourism.

Slim Domit emphasized the importance of technology in the tourism industry, noting that its adaptation is no longer an option but a necessity. He discussed the increase in data consumption during the pandemic, innovation, and other issues that are linked to tourism. He also made a brief reference to the political-social situation, highlighting the consequences of the pandemic and the long war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Slim Domit, the North American region is a market of over 400 million people, most of them young and with growing incomes who love to travel and must create personalized experiences through information analysis and artificial intelligence. He also spoke about the need for nearshoring, which is the equivalent of moving production from Asia to Mexico. Establishing production in Mexico will allow companies to stabilize their supply chains, which have been broken for many months.

Slim Domit believes that the trans-isthmic corridor and the Mayan Train will generate a lot of investment and explode in the Mexican southeast, triggering economies in the region. He also emphasized the importance of business alliances, which have become fundamental in the tourism industry. As part of this, an alliance was announced between the Volaris online travel agency, Ya Vas, and Avis Mexico, which seeks to facilitate the mobility of travelers by adding the possibility of renting a car as part of their itinerary.

The Commercial Director from Avis Mexico, Julio Álvarez, explained that living an all-inclusive experience is a great advantage for tourists. They can have a flight, lodging, and car rental for a better price, which significantly reduces stress and planning time for a vacation. At the end of the talk, the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, recognized Slim Domit for sharing his experience and discussed the technological implementations that will revolutionize the road safety service for tourists, Ángeles Verdes, including a geointelligence center and an application to facilitate the request for support.
